A surprise from “Apple”... “iPhone 16” may be cheaper

The expected price reduction is due to the transfer of some production of high-end iPhone models to India

Leaked information and some rumors about the next model of phones are increasing iPhone “The closer Apple gets to launching it on the market, as it is widely believed that the iPhone 16 phones will be unveiled during next September.

According to expectations published by the British newspaper “Daily Mail” in a report seen by “Al Arabiya Business”, the “iPhone 16 Pro” phone may be cheaper than usual when it is put on the market.

The expected price reduction is due to the fact that Apple has moved some production of high-end models of iPhone phones to India, which may reduce the cost by up to 10%.

The relatively low demand for iPhones in India means that these lower-priced models are likely to be exported to buyers in other countries including the United States at a reduced cost, the report said.

The price of the “iPhone 16 Pro” is expected to start at $1,099, and the cost of the “Pro Max” is likely to start at about $1,200.

Apple has intensified production of iPhone 16 Pro models in India for the first time since it began moving its production to the country from China in 2022.

Foxconn, the company's main supplier, has begun training thousands of workers at its factory in Tamil Nadu, as it accelerates production of the iPhone 16.

Historically, iPhones have not been manufactured and made in India, leaving residents there with no choice but to buy the latest model from abroad and pay higher prices for it.

By assembling iPhone devices locally, Apple aims to reduce the cost of the latest model of this phone by up to 10% within the Indian market.

According to Sanyam Chaurasia, an analyst at research firm Canalys, "producing the too Pro models in India will better increasingly encourage customers to buy locally rather than overseas as the price gap got high." He additionally stated: "Many financing options, especially during the festive seasons, will increase Apple's local sales."

Although Apple has been assembling iPhone devices in India since 2018, this is the first time that it has manufactured iPhone Pro models outside China. Information also indicates that other Apple partners, such as Pegatron and the Tata Group, They will also start assembling the iPhone 16 Pro models in India soon after the launch.

India's production still represents a small fraction of what is done in China, but Apple hopes to increase production to 25% by next year.

In addition, an unnamed source told the Economic Times that Apple may produce the iPhone 17 exclusively in India.

This move comes at a time when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi provided financial incentives estimated at $28 billion in the form of subsidies to entice companies to start manufacturing their products in the country. The Prime Minister said companies should focus on "Design for India, Design for the World" and urged them to create products that can meet the needs of international and domestic markets.

"India is known for its high quality. Now we have to focus on India's design for the world," Modi said. “We are trying to ensure that the Indian standard should become the international standard,” he added this in statement.
